Zone kit for stalker 2 has introduced tools for creating quests voice acting and new mechanics

GSC Game World has released a major update for Zone Kit, the modding tool for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Phase 2 hands modders access to many of the internal tools the studio used while building the game — not a teaser, but the real thing.

Mod creators now get visual scripting for quests, full audio support via Wwise (i.e., editable sound pipelines), a text localization system, plus a way to save mod progress. Expect practical additions rather than abstract promises.

The biggest practical change is the quest toolset: blueprint-based visual scripting. That means authors can design their own narratives, restore cut mechanics like the Brain Scorcher, or slot in new bartender quests at hubs — e.g., custom story beats or recurring side-lines.

Map placement gets friendlier too. If you know basic Unreal Engine ideas, you can drop NPCs and items straight onto the world map — a feature made for quests but usable far more widely. Also, the Localization Tool is live: edit NPC lines, weapon text, diary entries, etc., without diving into opaque files.

  • The Lesser Zone Kit – a minimalist SDK for config mods
  • Zone Kit Editor – SDK with Unreal Editor interface
  • Pre-renders – pre-rendered in-game cinematics
  • World Map – world map actors
  • Audio via Wwise – sound files editable under a free Wwise license

Zone Kit is free on the Epic Games Store. The team points out the SDK includes uncompressed assets, so you don’t have to download everything — pick modules as needed for your work (e.g., audio only, or map actors only).
