Yibambe! Marvel has moved "Black Panther 3" to summer 2028

Marvel Studios has pushed "Black Panther 3" out of its original February slot and now plans to open it on July 28, 2028. The calendar change is official.

The snag is mostly scheduling. Director Ryan Coogler is tied up with the "X‑Files" reboot, and several cast members are expected to be filming the new "Avengers" movie around the same time—so production on the trilogy sequel won't begin until at least 2027 (w/ principal photography later that year or after).

Story rumors keep circulating: the film may center on an adult son of T’Challa, and Damson Idris is one name being mentioned. Coogler — the Oscar winner — reportedly has a hand in the script, which also allegedly includes a first MCU appearance by Denzel Washington.

Practically speaking, the later date buys the team extra prep time and gives audiences a pause after the phase-six crescendo in "Secret Wars." Whether that leads to a smoother shoot or just a longer wait is something fans will decide.
