Wizards of the Coast returns to the Fallout universe with new Magic: The Gathering cards

Wizards of the Coast Returns to the Fallout Universe with New Magic: The Gathering Cards

Two years ago, Wizards of the Coast released a themed expansion for Magic: The Gathering based on the Fallout universe — and it turned out to be quite successful. Although the set included characters and events from the game series, it hit the market a month before the premiere of the popular TV show, so actors from the show were not featured in it. This situation will be corrected by the end of this month.

Wizards of the Coast has announced the release of four issues in the "Secret Lair" series, once again dedicated to the world of Fallout. One of them will be entirely devoted to the stars of the TV series. In this issue, players will see cards featuring key characters from the show — Ghoul, Maximus, and Lucy. Moreover, Lucy will not only get a personal card but will also appear on two others: on Spirit Mantle, she is depicted leaving the Super Duper Mart in power armor from the vault, and on Pre‑War Formalwear — in the chaos of a cornfield on the night of her wedding. Maximus will also appear twice; besides his personal card, his image is used on the T‑60 Power Armor card.

In addition to references to the series, fans will find a selection of five cards inspired by Fallout: New Vegas. These include Benny, Joshua Graham, the Platinum Chip, Custom Caravan Deck, and the Sunset Sarsaparilla Vending Machine. As is often the case in the Secret Lair series, the developers opted to reinterpret existing cards while preserving their mechanics. For example, the Sunset Sarsaparilla Vending Machine functions similarly to the Nuka‑Cola Vending Machine from the main Fallout set: it provides food tokens that can be converted into treasures.

Among other novelties is the return of Dogmeat in five new cards. One in particular is notable: an analogue of Sol Ring, crafted in the form of a dog bowl with water. Additionally, the Rad Secret Lair release will feature cards themed around mutants and mutations, including The Wise Mothman.

All these new cards will be included in the Rad Superdrop, scheduled for release on January 26.
