Parody of the Failed Concord in the Form of Highguard Won't Work on Linux

The soon-to-be-released hero shooter Highguard from former developers of Apex Legends and Titanfall (the studio was founded by ex-Respawn employees) has found itself at the center of another scandal. The reason is the extreme system security requirements that effectively "cut off" a significant portion of the PC community and completely prohibit running the project on Linux.

According to the game's Steam page and details from a PC Gamer article, launching Highguard on Windows 11 requires three mandatory conditions:

  • Secure Boot.
  • TPM 2.0.
  • Kernel-level Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC).

For most Windows 11 users, these features are enabled by default, but making them mandatory for launching the game means that any system modifications or the use of older hardware will render the game inaccessible. And on Linux, these conditions cannot be met at all.
