Volcanoes, Races, and Egypt: Anno 117 Developers Unveil First-Year Plans
Bigfoot, New Events, and Rebalance: Bethesda Reveals Details of The Backwoods Update for Fallout 76
Bethesda Softworks has released a detailed preview video for the major The Backwoods update for Fallout 76, timed to coincide with the patch release on March 3. On the same day, the 24th season, titled "Rip Daring and Cryptids from Deep Space," will begin. In the video, Creative Director John Rush revealed the key new features.
The main antagonist of the update will be the legendary cryptid Bigfoot with a four-star threat level—one of the most dangerous enemies in Appalachia.
Public events have been reworked: they will now feature new challenges and improved rewards with increased amounts of experience, resources, and legendary items. Regular events have been renamed to "activities," and after their completion, players may be attacked by "Party Crashers."
In addition, the developers showcased improvements to the Pip-Boy interface, armor rebalancing, and changes to the loot container system.
Previously, Bethesda confirmed support for the game at least until June 2026, and Todd Howard called Fallout 76 one of the studio's most significant works.
