Visiting lutik gameplay of the dlc ballads of the past for the game the witcher 3 unveiled

At the Gamescom 2026 show, CD Projekt RED presented a hands-on look at the story expansion Songs of the Past for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered. It’s slated for release in 2027 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Players will find a fresh narrative thread in a new locale, and combat gets a twist: Geralt can use a silver chain against monsters. The work is being handled by Fool’s Theory, a studio started by former CD Projekt RED staff and best known for the ill-fated RPG The Thaumaturge. Studio reps say the concept has been on the back burner for years, emerging only recently due to various delays and complications.

The plot picks up after the main campaign and centers on Julian Alfred Pancraz, Viscount de Lettenhof — better known as the bard Dandelion — and his family. Most of the action takes place in the newly introduced Letten region, up north in Redania. The setup: Geralt travels home to see Dandelion and to mark the Belleteyn festival; instead, the bard vanishes, throwing the Virsheplet household into chaos. A local legend about a cursed ancestor, Count Hambert de Lettenhof, adds a darker layer to the mystery.

Reporters at the demo remarked that Letten feels noticeably more populated than some other regions. Developers added more varied daily activities for NPCs — small, living moments rather than static background. That said, some of these touches appear to be part of the remaster’s broader changes rather than features exclusive to the expansion (i.e., the improvements may come bundled with the core update).

Release timing: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered arrives on September 29 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2. The update itself will be free; owners of the original game will also receive the story expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no extra cost.
