Vin Diesel called the script of the final part of "Fast & Furious" the best in recent decades

Not everyone gets misty-eyed over a screenplay; Vin Diesel did. He reacted publicly to the working script for the eleventh installment in the Fast & Furious saga, titled Fast Forever, and the reaction was more than a standard press line.

That post landed at the same time the trailer for a theatrical re-release of the first Fast & Furious arrived — the original returns to cinemas on August 21 for the franchise’s 25th anniversary. Diesel hinted Fast Forever will be tightly connected to that first movie, even suggesting audiences will "thank fate" for getting to see the original on the big screen once more.

A quick recap, since these things get tangled: the previous film, "Fast & Furious 10," came out in May 2023 and hauled in north of $704 million worldwide (approx.). Its ending left a huge cliffhanger, and the post-credits moments confirmed returns by Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson — yes, that Johnson.

Fast Forever is being directed by Louis Leterrier (think "Transporter," "The Incredible Hulk"). Michael Lesslie penned the current script; his résumé includes "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes," "Macbeth," "Assassin's Creed," e.g. Variety reports he reworked an earlier draft from Aaron Rabin and Zak Dean.
