Vibe-coding "kills" Open Source

Vibe coding kills open source

What was long considered just a bold rumor has received unexpected and practically official confirmation from ASUS China. During a video review of the new Ryzen 7 9850X3D (which launches today, January 29, 2026), the system's desktop was captured on camera with an open folder bearing the unambiguous name "9950X3DV2".

The main difference of the new model with the V2 suffix is that, for the first time, AMD has equipped both 8-core chiplets (CCDs) with an additional layer of cache memory. In the standard 9950X3D, the cache is present on only one chiplet, which forces the operating system to "guess" which thread to send to the "fast" cores and which to the "frequency" cores. With this new solution, the need for such CCD-aware scheduling in the OS will be eliminated.
