Valve has updated the Steam rewards system.
Valve has updated the Steam rewards system Valve has introduced a major update to the Steam community rewards system. The main innovation is the release of a set of 12 animated badges, which replace the previous set that had been in use since the program's launch. These awards continue to serve as incentive "reactions" — they can be placed under reviews, forum posts, and other user content on the platform.
The rules of the program have changed significantly. Now, award recipients will no longer receive Steam points. Valve explained that the previous system, which involved the transfer of points, was often used to promote a limited range of content that attracted increased attention. According to the company, this distorted the original idea of the incentive. At the same time, all points that have already been accumulated by users and are awaiting transfer will be credited as usual — the innovation only applies to future rewards. Another important change is the unification of the cost of rewards. Now any badge can be purchased for a fixed price — 500 Steam points. Previously, the cost varied depending on the type of badge.
In addition, Valve has updated the display of information on the user profile page. Now you can see award statistics there: how many badges the user has received and how many they have given to other community members. This makes interaction within the program more transparent.
