Update for dispatch has loosened censorship on switch and added new options on ps5 and pc

Early this year I noticed the superhero comedy Dispatch finally arrived on Nintendo Switch — and then the mood flipped: Switch owners found out the game shipped with non-disableable censorship in all regions. AdHoc Studio said they'd talk to Nintendo, and, well, they actually did something about it. An update — called HR Violations — rolled out on Switch and other platforms; its biggest impact is on Switch and Switch 2 users.

Players must grab a free DLC to toggle censorship settings; whether those toggles work depends on your region, i.e., the rules differ:

  • In North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, only partial censorship is now available on the “satyr” — images of bare chests and buttocks, as well as obscene gestures, have been restored. Genitalia and the explicit audio track of Nevidiva are still prohibited.
  • In Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Southeast Asian countries, censorship in Dispatch will remain unchanged — no nudity, middle fingers, or too explicit sounds.

To blunt the Switch restrictions (and because somebody thought black bars looked stale), the update adds several “censorship styles” for all the above regions except Japan. Instead of the usual opaque strips you can pick mosaic blur or a random mode — foreign stickers pop up and cover forbidden bits.

The patch hit PlayStation 5 and Steam, too. There the raw, uncensored mess mostly stays as-is, but you can also opt into the chaotic sticker mode — yes, even Toxica in denim shorts can be obscured that way if you want (or not). PS5/Steam users may enable the censorship styles described above, e.g., mosaic or sticker overlays.

On Xbox Series, the HR Violations update will arrive together with Dispatch on that console — currently scheduled for release before the end of summer 2026.
