Unity Assets from China Will Soon Become Unavailable to Users Outside the Mainland
On March 31, 2026, assets from the Greater China region (including Hong Kong and Macau) will no longer be purchasable on the Unity Global Asset Store. Staff posts on the forums point to "updated regional requirements for licensing, distribution, and regulatory compliance" as the cause. If you’re unsure whether an item you bought is flagged as coming from Greater China, check it here.
The change amounts to a marketplace split: after that date, assets tied to that region won’t be sold to users outside mainland China. Conversely, people located in Greater China will lose access to the global store once March 31 passes. Short version: until then you can still download and use any assets you’ve bought; after that, availability will be restricted.
