Ubisoft has handed over three major series to Massive Entertainment at once - Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and The Division
Ubisoft places Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and The Division under Massive Entertainment
As part of Ubisoft's ongoing corporate restructuring, the Swedish studio Massive Entertainment has been designated Creative House 2 and will now oversee three major Tom Clancy franchises: The Division, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell. Teams based in Montreal, Paris, Sweden, and Toronto will be consolidated under the Massive Entertainment banner, and their responsibilities will also extend to new original titles, including March of Giants.
Christophe Hartmann, who was previously appointed to lead Creative House 2, now heads Massive Entertainment. According to Hartmann, bringing the teams together under a single brand will let the company draw on their combined creative and technical expertise to both develop established franchises and produce new games.
The move is part of a broader cost-reduction effort. Ubisoft is preparing to cut an additional 180 million euros as part of the third and final phase of its transformation. The company had originally aimed to save 200 million euros, but that figure was later adjusted.
Massive Entertainment remains a studio within Ubisoft, and Ubisoft itself will continue to handle publishing and distribution of the studio's games. For players, the announced changes are not expected to affect Ubisoft's current commitments.
