Twitch Automatically Enrolled Streamers in Amazon's AI Training Program

Twitch automatically enrolled streamers in amazons ai training program

Twitch has confirmed it's launching a program that uses streamer content to train generative AI across the Amazon ecosystem — i.e., live streams, VODs, clips, and chat logs will be ingested for model training. The detail that set off many creators: the feature is turned on by default, leaving each user to discover and activate the opt-out themselves.

Leadership didn't pretend the rollout was popular. In a live broadcast, Chief Product Officer Mike Minton conceded that making the system opt-in would likely mean almost no one would choose it — a blunt admission that only amplified frustration.

After a wave of complaints and petitions across forums, Twitch added a manual switch to stop data sharing; users can toggle it off in the "Security and Privacy" tab of their account settings.
