Tomb Raider I-III Remastered received an update with a challenge mode and new costumes
When Tomb Raider I–III Remastered showed up on additional platforms, it did so alongside a substantive patch — the PlayStation blog has the rundown here. The patch doesn’t merely tweak visuals; it adds a challenge mode and a batch of new costumes plus some extra achievements.
The challenge mode is the loudest change. You can tweak HP, dmg, enemy density, underwater breath (air), and more — basically bend the rules to see how the levels behave under different stress. Crank up the challenge rating and you’ll unlock additional bonuses as you go.
Ten new costumes arrived too. Each outfit alters gameplay stats — movement, combat potency, stamina for swims — but they’re active only during challenge runs. There’s variety, and some sets have odd quirks worth trying.
One of those quirks: equip the "Peace Sample" set (wreath + sandals) and most enemies won’t start fights unless you do. Bosses ignore this pacifism, though, and the trade-off is nasty: incoming hits deal double dmg.
Challenge-focused goals got some attention as well — fifteen new achievements tied to the challenge mode were added in Tomb Raider I–III Remastered.
Availability remains broad: the collection is on PC (Steam, Epic, GOG), PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch; it has also appeared on Nintendo Switch 2 and on mobile (iOS, Android). If you own the Switch edition, you can upgrade to the Switch 2 version for free; handheld mode targets 120 fps at 1080p, docked mode targets 60 fps at 1440p.
