There will be no resurrection of Kylo Ren in "Star Wars" — officially

Lucasfilm president Dave Filoni made it plain that the studio isn't moving forward with the canceled film Star Wars: Hunt for Ben Solo. At the Disney Entertainment Showcase during D23 2026, reporters pressed him about the project's status and he deflected with a bit of fun, using the Jedi "mind control": "Right now, we are not making that film. That's all I can say."

The story picked up speed after Adam Driver revealed he'd spent about two years (i.e., roughly 24 months) developing the movie alongside director Steven Soderbergh and screenwriter Rebecca Blunt before Disney halted production. Soderbergh blasted the cancellation as "insanity" — a harsh reaction that echoed among some cast and crew — and former Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy spoke warmly of the script. Fans have organized protests (esp. online campaigns) trying to revive the project, but Soderbergh himself sounds doubtful: revival, he suggests, would likely have happened already if it were going to.
