Ballistic Moon Studio, Creator of Until Dawn Remake, Officially Closed
Ballistic Moon — the team behind the Until Dawn remake — has shut down. Early February 2026 saw liquidation papers filed in the UK.
A quick rewind: devs who split from Supermassive Games set up shop in 2019. Sony bought the studio in 2023. The remake arrived in 2024 and, frankly, it didn't catch on: Opencritic averaged it at 69, sales underwhelmed, and its PS5 audience was even smaller than that of the ill-fated Concord. Many players complained about the updated visuals and a shifted camera perspective.
The collapse wasn't overnight. Layoffs happened in Sept. and Dec. 2024; Sony declined further funding; by March 2025 only the founding members were left on payroll. Small crews, mounting debt, stalled plans — a familiar, ugly loop.
Now the remake sits without official support, and any ambition for fresh projects from this group has been mostly buried. What becomes of the series next? That's unclear — and, for fans and former staff alike, a disappointing question mark.
