The star of widows cove will play british investigative journalist harold evans

Actor Matthew Rhys ("The Morphine King") has landed the lead in a new dramatic film about investigative journalist, The Sunday Times editor, and writer Harold Evans. The project—working title Dragon Slayer—is set in the 1970s and intends to sketch a turbulent slice of British investigative reporting from that decade rather than a full biography. Expect a focus on Evans' campaign for thalidomide victims, a portrayal of the DC-10 disaster (then the country’s deadliest crash), and the complicated Kim Philby affair; each episode drawn from studies, published sources and interviews, e.g., conversations with Evans’ widow, the editor/author Tina Brown, and other family members. The screenplay comes from Peter Bowker ("Occupation") and Annalisa d'Innella ("Sex Education"), with Alastair McKay ("Without Sin") directing. Meanwhile, Rhys is filming season two of “Presumed Innocent”, and in June the show “Cape Fear” with Javier Bardem (F1), in which he also appears, is due to premiere.
