Retro MARVEL MaXimum Collection to be released on March 27
Late February brought word from Limited Run Games about the MARVEL MaXimum Collection — a retro bundle that digs into familiar superhero arcade and console fare. Predictably, Limited Run followed up with a physical edition: a boxed copy for PS5, Xbox Series, or Switch, plus a sticker and a booklet. Pre-orders run from March 27 to May 24, so expect the actual discs/cartridges sometime in summer at the earliest — if you’re into collector stuff, this is the part that matters.
The compilation totals 13 games (counting different platform releases):
- X-Men: The Arcade Game (arcade);
- Captain America and The Avengers (arcade, Genesis, NES);
- Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage (Genesis, SNES);
- Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety (Genesis, SNES);
- Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade’s Revenge (Genesis, SNES, Game Boy, Game Gear);
- Silver Surfer (NES).
One small, nice surprise: the arcade version is included — stuff that used to live only on emulators is now officially present. The package also ships the usual emulation conveniences: save-anywhere, rewind, bonus materials, etc. Take it as a ready-made nostalgia fix or a tidy display piece; your call.
