Double Fine Productions and Xbox Game Studios have announced the release date of Kiln. The team-based multiplayer action about potters and their oddball creations lands on PC and consoles on April 23.

Before that, the devs will run an open beta on PC via Steam — it runs April 9–11.

Kiln flips the usual brawler script: instead of picking a preset fighter you spin the wheel and make one. The silhouette you throw shapes how it moves and fights; build a heavy jug or a slim bowl and you’ll get different attacks and tactics.

Matches are team vs. team. Everyone sculpts their idea of a combat pot and tries to punch through the other side’s defenses. The point is to gather water and put out the enemy kiln; as fights go on the floor becomes a graveyard of shards, and wins tend to hinge on coordination and timing rather than raw chaos.

When a match ends, players head back to Potstadt to level up, kit out their pieces, and swap creations with others. The devs seem keen on the shaping side of things — the game models "realistic" clay and offers a batch of decoration tools to mess with.

In Kiln, gamers on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5 can try to craft the baddest pot in Potstadt. The title also joins Game Pass on day one. Russian text localization is included.
