The Outer Worlds 3 Will Not Happen

Obsidian Entertainment does not plan to create The Outer Worlds 3. Studio head Fergus Urquhart stated this in an interview with Bloomberg. Instead, the team will focus on releasing additional content for The Outer Worlds 2 and on expanding the universe of the game Avowed.

Urquhart also explained the reasons for this decision. The development of The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed took over six years, which significantly increased the projects' budgets but did not allow them to achieve the expected commercial results. Now the studio plans to optimize the process by reducing the development cycle for new projects to three or four years.

Recall that The Outer Worlds 2 was released in October 2025 and received mixed reviews from critics.
