The original Silent Hill 1 received a native PC port without emulators

Silent Hill 1, long stuck on the PS1, can finally be played on PC in an honest native format—thanks to an indie dev who goes by KushAstronaut (SlickAmogus). They launched sh1pc.com to share a fully functional build. The port springs from a large fan-led effort to decompile the 1999 game's source code, a project people have been chipping away at for years. This release is notable because you can play from the title screen to the credits and obtain any of the canonical endings. Rather than running through an emulator layer, the native port talks to modern system APIs, which opens up possibilities for features that weren’t practical before. It’s oddly satisfying to see the game behave this way on PC—I'm already wondering what modders and players will experiment with next.
