The open beta of Mortal Shell 2 has started on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series

Ahead of the August 20, 2026 release, console players got an early look: the action‑RPG Mortal Shell 2 is offering the first three hours as a limited free beta on PS5 and Xbox Series (PS5 / XS). It’s a short window, and some progress made in the beta will carry over into the full game.

On Steam the demo has been circulating since June — the devs reported roughly 500k downloads, peaks around 8.4k concurrent players, and a 92% positive rating. That doesn’t make the game flawless, of course, but the trial sparked a lot of chatter.

The release date was revealed a month ago, with pre-orders starting at ₽2299. The physical Revered Edition for the “blue” consoles sold out fast and was quickly scooped up — many read that as a deliberate snub toward Sony, or at least a curious bit of fan signaling.

The sequel keeps the core feel—brutal encounters, weighty combat—but tries to push some systems further.
