New Overwatch Season Raised Steam Online to 100,000 — Still Far from Record

The new season of Overwatch (2023) went live last night under the banner Into the Tiger's Den (Into the Tiger’s Den). Fans did log on, but the launch wasn’t a fireworks show.

According to Steam charts, the daily peak climbed just past 100,000 players (≈100k) — see the data here. That still sits well below the surge from early Feb, when numbers topped roughly 165,000 (≈165k) at the start of the first season after the big relaunch; that period coincided with the intro of five new heroes at once (more).

We’ll have a clearer picture by the weekend, though I’m not placing bets on a fresh peak. Right now, at the time this was posted, Steam concurrent players are hovering just under 50,000 (≈50k).

For those wondering what’s new: the season adds the hero Sion (trailer/info) and the Japanese map Neon Station, plus two simultaneous in-game events, "Anima Strike" and "Digging Begins."
