Rebel Wolves, the studio formed by former CD Projekt RED developers who worked on The Witcher 3, is continuing to support its recently released vampire RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, with regular post-launch updates. Among several hotfixes issued since launch, the studio’s most recent update—hotfix 1.0.4—attracted attention not only for technical fixes but also for a few unusually phrased patch notes.

Patch 1.0.4 addresses a range of stability and gameplay problems, with the developers reporting fixes for numerous bugs, crashes, and softlocks and an overall improvement in game stability. Alongside those standard corrections, the notes included several lines that players found amusing.

One entry reads, “torches can no longer grow uncontrollably,” a tongue-in-cheek description of a bug in which a light source literally increased in size without limit. Another line states, “dead NPCs can no longer start dialogues,” referring to a technical issue that could cause deceased characters—ranging from guards to zombie nuns—to initiate conversations with the protagonist, Koen. For players who never encountered it, the idea of talking to a corpse during a dungeon crawl sounded like an odd side-quest.

Players also spotted a bright red placeholder pipe in the game’s prologue, located in the silver mines, that bore the repeated instruction “DO NOT USE.” Rebel Wolves removed that asset and summarized the change in the notes as, “we no longer use that red pipe which we were not supposed to use.”

Despite the playful wording, hotfix 1.0.4 delivered meaningful technical work across the title. Rebel Wolves says it will continue issuing targeted patches to address both critical and minor issues that have appeared after the launch of the open-world RPG. For now, the studio is limiting updates to smaller fixes rather than sweeping gameplay changes; players have expressed hopes for more extensive improvements—such as a combat overhaul—but Rebel Wolves has not confirmed any plans for major revisions.
