The gta 6 collectors edition repeats rare rockstar merch from past games

Fans examining the GTA 6 Collector's Edition noticed several pieces of merchandise are deliberate nods to rare items Rockstar once produced exclusively for its employees.

Most prominent among the reimagined pieces is the "Macca the Gator" mirror, which mirrors (literally and figuratively) a decorative mirror Rockstar handed out to developers at the release party for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. That original, styled to match the game, became a scarce collector’s item among staff. A blade-shaped keychain included in the Collector’s Edition also echoes a promotional keychain Rockstar distributed during the launch of the original Vice City, and now appears again in the Vice City–themed GTA 6 set.

The third clear reference is the Collector’s Edition’s swizzle spoon — a cocktail-stirring spoon whose design calls back to a 14-carat gold, gold-plated spoon Rockstar gave developers at the party marking the release of GTA 4: The Ballad of Gay Tony in 2009. The GTA 6 version opts for a silver finish and Vice City–themed detailing rather than the original’s gold plating.

Beyond their shared look, the three originals have another connection: they were rare developer gifts and are therefore almost impossible to find on the open market today, with some examples commanding significant value.

The Collector’s Edition has drawn mixed reactions from the community due to its $400 price, the absence of a physical copy of the game, and its unconventional selection of merch. The discovered historical references suggest Rockstar selected and reinterpreted several internal giveaways from its past rather than assembling unrelated souvenirs.

The GTA 6 Collector’s Edition is part of the Vice City Collection and, alongside the items noted above, contains additional GTA 6–focused memorabilia. Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026.
