A new trailer for "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" was presented as part of a special Nintendo Direct. It features the first official look at the design of Yoshi, one of the key characters in the sequel, whose appearance had previously been glimpsed in promotional partnerships.

The film is scheduled for release on April 1, 2026. The plot will send Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad on a space adventure where they must confront Bowser Jr. In addition to galactic locations, the trailer also showcased the Tostarena desert from Super Mario Odyssey, as well as the characters Birdo and Mouser from Super Mario Bros. 2.

The main voice cast returns, including Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, and Keegan-Michael Key. They are joined by Brie Larson as Rosalina and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr. The actor who will voice Yoshi has not yet been announced.

Producer Chris Meledandri stated that the film's animation is fully complete, and work is currently underway on sound and music. Composer Brian Tyler is creating the soundtrack using themes from the Super Mario Galaxy game series.
