Fresh Hit Mewgenics by McMillen Attracts Over 115,000 Concurrent Players

Eight years of development and three hours to recoup it all. Mewgenics, the new creation by Edmund McMillen, the author of the cult classics Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac, has triumphantly burst onto the gaming scene. On the evening of its release, the game's concurrent player count soared past 115,000 — a figure the creator hadn't even dreamed of during the peak years of his previous hits.

For comparison, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, which gathered a more than respectable audience, peaked at around 70,000. Super Meat Boy was content with just five thousand.

The scale of Mewgenics' success proved so impressive that McMillen was quick to announce: the game is guaranteed to reach all consoles. The only mystery is exactly when.
