The Dragon Quest Event Returns to Final Fantasy 14
Back again: the Dragon Quest crossover has popped up in Final Fantasy 14 for the sixth time, and yes—you can earn those quirky rewards once more. This seasonal run swaps in Dragon Quest-themed quests and throws a few oversized golems at players for good measure.
In Eorzea, golems are shown as artifacts of the Fifth Astral Era (i.e., the era of big magical breakthroughs that later collapsed into war). Mining outfits are now poking and prodding these relics because they suspect valuable ore is trapped inside—e.g., rare minerals and the sort of loot that gets prospectors excited. The setting feels half-myth, half-industrial scavenger hunt.
Some of the event prizes lean toward the ridiculous, intentionally so. The most notorious is the King Slime Crown, famous for physics that refuse to behave; I can only describe it as gloriously silly. Other items include the Bandit's Mug minion and an Adventurer's Armor set that mixes normal plate bits with a lancer-style harness—odd, charming, and oddly practical in different ways.
The official event blurb is blunt: this is the same Dragon Quest event that showed up in 2014, 2017, 2020, 2021, and 2024—no major rewrites, just a rerun. PSA: if you started the quest previously and left it sitting in your journal, you can pick it back up exactly where you paused.
