The Division Producer Leaves Ubisoft — Now He Will Work at Battlefield Studios
The creative director of Massive Entertainment, Julian Gerighty, has left Ubisoft and moved to Electronic Arts — just a week after publicly discussing the future of Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 and calling the game "an absolute beast."
Ubisoft announced that one of the key creators of the The Division series and Star Wars Outlaws has joined Battlefield Studios.
Today we want to share that Julian Gerighty, Executive Producer of the Tom Clancy’s The Division franchise, is heading off on a new adventure to Battlefield Studios. He will be missed, but his contributions will forever be a part of Massive, and we will continue to build upon the world he helped create for many years to come. Julian, your legacy is part of this studio, and remember: once an Agent, always an Agent. And to our players, there is no need to worry. The teams who built this world alongside Julian remain in place and, with the same ambition, continue their work on the future of The Division 2, The Division 2: Survivors, The Division Resurgence, and The Division 3. Gerighty himself addressed the fans in the series' signature style. He stated that he is "hanging up his go-bag," but retains faith in a bright future for The Division. According to him, players have yet to see what the Massive teams are currently working on.
What specific position Gerighty will take at Battlefield Studios has not yet been revealed. His move coincides with a difficult period for the division: in December, the franchise lost its head, Vince Zampella, who died in a car accident.
Gerighty's departure looks especially unexpected against the backdrop of recent events. Just a week ago, he participated in a digital presentation, confidently speaking about the scale and ambitions of The Division 3. At that time, he stated that the studio was doing everything possible to ensure the new installment would have as strong an impact on the series and players as the first The Division.
