The director of the new "Resident Evil" has already completed Resident Evil Requiem twice but refused Village — it's too scary
Zak Krueger — director/writer of "Barbarian" and "The Tools" — told Destiny Jackson (Deadline) that he played through Resident Evil Requiem twice in just a few weeks. He drew the line at Village, though; the thought of meeting Lady Dimitrescu left him unnerved. Krueger, a longtime fan who’s been tapped to bring the series to screens again (i.e., his fourth Resident Evil project), said that particular entry was simply too frightening for him.
His film is set to arrive on September 18, 2026 — or Sept. 18, 2026, if you prefer the short form — and viewers shouldn't count on running into the usual characters: Krueger calls it a "completely original story."
