NPOs are non-profit organizations

The Stop Killing Games movement, which began as a protest against the shutdown of The Crew servers, is reaching a new level. The initiative's founder, YouTube blogger Ross Scott, announced the launch of two official non-governmental organizations—in the European Union and the United States.

Previously, activists managed to collect 1.3 million signatures on a petition, which prompted the European Union to consider the issue and Ubisoft to promise not to destroy its games in this way again.

The NPO will allow the movement to conduct long-term work, including lobbying for players' interests in the EU and monitoring the actions of publishers. As Scott explained, the organization will be able to push for the inclusion of game protection in legislative acts, such as the Digital Fairness Act or the Digital Content Directive, even if current initiatives fail.

Furthermore, the NPO will focus on creating infrastructure for rapid response to future game shutdowns—for example, by launching multilingual websites with instructions on filing complaints with regulatory authorities.

The work of the organizations will be led by Moritz Katzner, a German political strategist who has been involved in the movement since 2025. Scott himself, who admitted to being tired from years of struggle, will remain on the sidelines of operational management.
