The debut trailer for the horror film "SOULM8Y" has been released

A trailer for the horror "SOULM8TE" — a spin-off of "MZGAN" (yes, the Megan Fox one) has popped up online. Like its predecessor, it delves into what happens when AI creeps into private life; think meddling companions, blurred boundaries, e.g., emotional labor crossing into control.

The story circles an engineer coping with a recent loss. He's assigned to field-test a new companion AI and attempts to tweak the female android to suit him. Then things go off-script: she begins to want things of her own and, unnervingly, seems to welcome disorder.

The film was directed and written by Kate Dolan. The leading roles were played by Lily Sullivan and David Rysdahl.

No theatrical run — it goes straight to streaming, with a premiere set for August 1.
