The creators of the "Harry Potter" series have found actors for the roles of Ginny Weasley, Tom Riddle, and Dobby in the second season

The HBO "Harry Potter" TV series team has confirmed they have finished casting three principal roles for the show’s second season, which will adapt the book "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." The announcement was first announced by production sources.

Casting highlights

• Tom Riddle (16-year-old): 18-year-old actor Billy Barratt has been cast to play the teenage version of the future dark lord. Producers say they intentionally cast a younger actor than the films did — Christian Coulson portrayed Riddle at 23 in the movies — and that Barratt is closer to the character’s age in the book.
• Dobby: Seventeen-year-old Lenny Rush will take on the role of the house-elf. The film incarnation of Dobby was created with CGI and voiced by Toby Jones; HBO has not yet disclosed whether the series will use full CGI, motion capture, or practical makeup for the character.
• Ginny Weasley: Bonnie Hill will replace Gracie Cochran in the role of Ron’s younger sister, who becomes a Hogwarts student in Season 2 and falls under the influence of Tom Riddle’s enchanted diary. Hill is known for the British project "Girl Troop versus Aliens."

• Kit Harington was previously announced to join the new season as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart.
• The central student trio remains unchanged: Dominic MacLachlan (Harry Potter), Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley), and Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger).
• The adult ensemble includes John Lithgow (Dumbledore), Janet McTeer (McGonagall), Paapa Essiedu (Snape), and Nick Frost (Hagrid).
• Filming for Season 2 is scheduled to begin this fall. The premiere of Season 1 is planned for the Christmas holidays on HBO and HBO Max.
• Francesca Gardiner will continue as showrunner, with John Brown joining as co-showrunner for the second season.
