The creators of the anime Needy Girl Overdose have introduced new original characters Ahead of the debut of the anime Needy Girl Overdose, based on the game Needy Streamer Overload, Aniplex has released three teaser trailers featuring the original Karamazov characters.
An original idol group called Karamazov will debut in the anime. The trio consists of:
- Purple Lollipop (voiced by Rina Kawaguchi) — a "poisonous denpa girl" with a bright and provocative image.
- Michika Gokubara (voiced by Satsuki Shiiina) — a character with a darker, gothic aesthetic
- Nechika-sama (voiced by Seena Hoshiki) — the third member of the group.
The appearance of the Karamazov group hints that the anime's plot will not simply copy the game, but will offer an original story in which the main character Ame (aka KAngel) will have to face competition or new aspects of the internet idol industry.
Yostar Pictures (known for Arknights and Blue Archive) is responsible for the production of the anime, and Masaoki Nakajima will take the director's chair. The author of the original game, Nyalra, worked on the adaptation's plot (although it was previously reported that he had been partially removed from production, he managed to prepare scripts for all 13 episodes).
The anime is scheduled to premiere in Japan in April 2026. Before that, a limited theatrical release is expected (in March 2026).
The anime will retain the aesthetics of "internet madness" and tell the story of the difficulties of the life of a modern girl who craves recognition on the internet. The original game became famous for its dark atmosphere and deep exploration of the theme of mental health in the age of social media.
