Path of Exile 2 Developers Promise Not to Abandon the First Game Even After the Sequel's Release

By the end of the year, Path of Exile 2 is expected to leave early access and arrive as a full release. Still, Grinding Gear Games was quick to assure players that the original Path of Exile won't be left to wither. Their stated position: support for the first PoE will continue while people keep playing it — the studio says it has the team and the audience to run both titles at once.

We have no intention of abandoning the first PoE. When we ship content updates, Path of Exile still draws hundreds of thousands of players online. It would make little sense to walk away from a game showing those numbers, so we'll keep supporting PoE for as long as it has an audience. Jonathan Rogers, co-founder of Grinding Gear Games

The team admits that content slowed down after the early version of Path of Exile 2 launched — a messy period, frankly — but they claim they've since smoothed workflows and set up dedicated teams for each game. That, according to them, should prevent the same bottlenecks going forward (i.e., it's their plan — time will tell).

There isn't a firm release date for Path of Exile 2 yet. The title is playable on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, official client), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series — with Russian text localization available.
