Marathon's Creators Drew Inspiration from the Nineties and 2000s
The global franchise director at Bungie, Philip Asher, stated that the memories of the developers from the nineties and 2000s formed the foundation for Marathon. According to Asher, the team deeply respects that era and its legacy.
For instance, the 1995 racing simulator Wipeout had a significant influence on Marathon's design. The creators were also inspired by PlayStation advertising from that time and the translucent DualShock controllers. Asher added that the game's creators are passionate about bringing the trends of that period into the modern day.
Previously, former Marathon art director Joseph Cross shared that he drew inspiration from everywhere, even from LEGO and IKEA products. He also noted that he was very pleased with the work done and admitted that the debates surrounding the game's artistic style had affected him.
Recently, Marathon received three new trailers dedicated to the "Assassin" and "Destroyer" combat shells, as well as the soundtrack.
Marathon is scheduled for release on March 5th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.
