The component crisis does not affect Valve's plans to release the Steam Deck 2

Valve engineer Pierre-Lou Griffe told IGN Netherlands that the global component shortage will not alter the company's plans to bring out Steam Deck 2.

Griffe said Valve recognizes that the current economic conditions are having a major effect across the industry — including on the Steam Machine — but emphasized that development on the next Steam Deck continues.

“We have already said that with the future Steam Deck we want to achieve a significant performance increase, and our point of view has not changed. Now our task is to find conditions to ensure that result,” Griffe said.

By 2023 outlets were reporting that a follow-up would likely be delayed by several years.
