Actress from Prince of Persia Remake Learned About the Game's Cancellation Online
A very sad video. Actress Eman Ayaz shared that she learned about the cancellation of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake not from the publisher or the team, but from online news. She called this moment the most devastating of her entire career. She doesn't directly name the game and emphasizes that she is still bound by a non-disclosure agreement. Nevertheless, she later reposted messages from fans that directly mention the "Sands of Time" remake.
According to Ayaz, she worked on the project for about three years.
Three years ago, I got a role that was supposed to change my life, in a project that could be career-defining. The selection process was very tough: first a casting tape, then an in-person audition, and after that — a chemistry read, for which I had to fly to another city. When I was confirmed, I remember crying tears of joy. I dedicated the last three years of my life to this project and during that time grew very close to the team — they became like family to me. And this week, I found out online that the project was canceled. Eman Ayaz
She learned about the development halt by chance. Her brother texted her on WhatsApp asking if everything was okay, and then sent a link to the news about the game's cancellation. At the same time, according to the actress, just two months ago she was recording materials for promotion, and nothing indicated any problems.
Due to the NDA, Ayaz cannot officially confirm her participation in the project. As a result, three years of her work have essentially vanished from her portfolio and cannot be used in her resume or for applications. This is especially important considering the actress was planning to obtain a work visa for the USA. This, she says, is what makes the situation particularly painful.
To recap, Ubisoft officially confirmed the cancellation of the remake last week. In a message to fans, the team stated that the project never managed to reach the required level of quality. Continuing development would have required more time and resources than the company was willing to invest, and releasing a game "below the bar" was considered the wrong decision.
The Prince of Persia remake became one of six titles canceled by the publisher in recent days.
