Action Onimusha: Way of the Sword received an overview trailer with thrilling gameplay
Capcom has released a three-minute trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword that acts as a quick tour of the game’s main elements — from the story to actual gameplay sequences.
Expect a darker, more fantastical Kyoto set in the Edo era. The lead is the lone samurai Miyamoto Musashi, who comes into possession of the Oni glove — a strange relic that, e.g., grants the ability to take on the subterranean Genma. It’s eerie rather than neat.
The footage shows up-close, often brutal clashes and characters who reveal themselves in quick, uneven beats; the plot piles on odd mysteries and little stories that don’t always resolve cleanly. What awaits the samurai at the end of the road?
There’s no exact release date yet; the game is expected in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series (i.e., current-gen hardware).
In January, the Onimusha adventure game series celebrated its 25th anniversary. Way of the Sword is the first full-fledged installment in many years.
