Large-Scale Team Fortress 2 Classified Mod with New Class and Game Modes Released on Steam

The Eminoma team has released Classified, a major fan-made modification for Team Fortress 2 that reimagines TF2, drawing on Valve's early ideas and cut content. The project introduces mechanics and elements that never made it into the official version, while preserving the recognizable style and atmosphere of classic Team Fortress.

One of the main additions is the "Civilian" — a special class inspired by a character from Team Fortress Classic. This class is utilized in specific game modes where teams must escort him to an objective.

Alongside this, Classified features redesigned weapon prototypes from TF2's pre-release builds: from a nailgun pistol to tranquilizer darts and dynamite. All equipment has been rebuilt from the ground up to fit within the balance of the existing arsenal.

The mod also expands the match format. Players have access to modes with multiple teams, where new factions join the familiar RED and BLU, as well as completely new mission types — including VIP modes and variations of "Territorial Control." Battles are enhanced by non-standard interactive elements like jump pads, anti-aircraft guns, and makeshift tools, which significantly change the dynamics of combat.

The developers paid special attention to the visual aspect and support for user-generated content. Classified features updated textures, models, and lighting, bringing it closer to the cartoonish style of early TF2, while cosmetic items from the original game have been completely removed. At the same time, the mod actively supports customization — from appearance to custom maps and weapon sets.

The project has been in development for over a decade, and according to the creators, the team has no plans to stop, promising new modes, characters, and content in future updates. It seems users were eagerly awaiting this release and noted that it's the old TF, but with a ton of new features.
