Sven Vinke dispelled a fan's concerns regarding the scale of Divinity and its impact on the narrative

Not long ago, Larian studio stated that Divinity would become the studio's most ambitious project, which caused concern among fans. Sven Vinke, head of Larian, was approached by a player on social media who asked a question about the new project.

I am worried about the claim that Divinity will be even larger in scale than BG3. Do you mean possible story branches? If yes: how do you avoid the feeling of the story becoming "blurred" as these branches develop beyond BG3? A game with a single static story, like God of War/TLOU, has incredible narrative strength because it's one focused path, one well-developed story with well-crafted characters, and all dialogues are written specifically for that one well-developed story.

Vinke, in turn, noted that his studio is focused on providing greater player freedom, which will lead to a highly branched narrative.

We are indeed aiming for greater autonomy and, consequently, more branching, and you're right, it's not easy to ensure the same narrative quality across all branches, but we are doing our best. I think any narrative pitfalls that our approach might cause are largely offset by players understanding that they ended up where they did because of their own decisions, not because they were forced down a particular path.
