Still worthy? QD-OLED after 6000 hours of use has slightly burned in, but continues to please
Monitors Unboxed ran a long-term check on a first-gen QD-OLED monitor — two years in the field, about 6000 hrs of total use, with roughly 95% of that time showing static images. The test was deliberately unfussy: the panel wasn’t baby-sat.
Burn-in? Yes, there are traces, but they’re subtle and only show up under specific viewing conditions. Keep in mind this was a worst-case-ish routine: few cleaning cycles, 95% static content, and the taskbar left visible instead of set to auto-hide. The matrix got no special treatment.
The photo below uses a filter that exaggerates the effect; real-world visibility is lower.
I’ll admit: if you’re worrying about permanent damage, this outcome is neither catastrophic nor a reason to sigh with relief.
