Steam is expecting a slowdown, but not in Russia, but in Turkey.
Steam faces slowdown, but not in Russia, this time in Turkey
A bill has been proposed in Turkey that would require major gaming platforms like Steam and the Epic Games Store to open local offices and appoint representatives.
Under the new rules, all games for Turkish users would need to have an age rating from PEGI or ESRB. Games without a rating would be blocked from access within Turkey.
Enforcement would be handled by the Turkish Information and Communication Technologies Authority. It would have the power to demand the removal or alteration of content, as well as request user data, citing child safety concerns.
For non-compliance, platforms could be slowed down by 90%, rendering them practically unusable. For example, downloading a 100 GB game could take months.
