Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Director Reveals More Details About the Upcoming Game

Although it still hasn't been officially presented

Game Director Naoki Hamaguchi has shared new details about the final part of the remake trilogy for Final Fantasy VII. The official title for the third game has already been approved, but it has not been revealed yet. The decision was made by Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura after discussing two final options at the end of 2025.

Hamaguchi also confirmed that development will continue on the Unreal Engine 4. Despite considering a transition to UE5, the team decided to modify the already familiar version of the engine to ensure stability and leverage accumulated experience. A similar approach was already used in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to create the open world.

Among other known details is the return of the popular mini-game Queen's Blood, a card game introduced in the second part. Hamaguchi promised its expansion and improvements, although specific changes have not been disclosed yet.

Simultaneously, Square Enix has ended the PlayStation exclusivity for the series: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been released on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. All future parts of the trilogy, including the third one, will also be released on these platforms.

The team faces the task of improving the narrative pacing, which was criticized in Rebirth, to conclude one of the most anticipated trilogies of modern times.
