Starbreeze Conducts Another Round of Layoffs — Future of Payday 3 Under Threat
Swedish studio Starbreeze, the developer behind Payday 3, has undergone staff cuts. Several employees have confirmed the layoffs on their social media, although an official statement from the company is yet to be released.
Since its launch in 2023, Payday 3 has faced significant technical and reputational issues, leading to a massive player exodus. The situation became so dire that the studio ultimately fired its CEO.
At the end of 2024, management announced plans to significantly reduce investments in the game's second-year content. Despite this, support for the project continues — an update featuring a new heist and balance changes was released in January.
