She's Not Worth It: Netflix Spits on Warner Bros. Purchase, Which Chose Paramount's "Superior" Offer

The deal between Netflix and Warner Bros., concluded on December 5, 2025, has been annulled: the WB board of directors was ultimately tempted by a "superior" offer from Paramount: a full acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, $31 per share, and more generous bonus/compensation payments if the deal is not approved by antitrust authorities.

Netflix was given four days to offer something more substantial instead of $27.75 per share, but the streaming giant's bosses, Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, immediately sent WB packing: for them, the deal became "financially unattractive."

As a result, Netflix and Paramount shares rose by 9% and 6% respectively, while WB lost 1% of its value. Market participants' opinions were divided.

As for regulatory approval in different countries, Paramount has a better chance of getting it, but California Attorney General Rob Bonta and European bureaucrats could throw a wrench in the works.
