South of Midnight will arrive on PS5 and Switch 2 on March 31
The adventure action game South of Midnight is coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 on March 31 — that’s the word from Xbox Game Studios and the team at Compulsion Games.
Hazel, a girl from the Gulf-adjacent town of Prospero, survives a hurricane that leaves everything frayed. She discovers she’s a Weaver, a kind of magical healer who mends the fragile ties between people and spirits. The setting leans Southern — humid, creaky, and oddly alive — so expect local lore to show up in unexpected ways.
Monsters pulled from Southern folklore stalk the roads and bayous; behind each is a sorrowful backstory waiting to be teased out. Hazel uses old spells to calm hostile spirits, pokes into abandoned places, and slowly pieces together her family’s past. (Note: some scenes are atmospheric, esp. the quieter, eerie stretches.)
South of Midnight arrives on PlayStation 5 on March 31, 2026. Step into a handcrafted world of Southern folklore, living magic, and haunting beauty. The award-winning journey awaits.
Prospero County looks like a postcard that’s been left in the rain: pretty, worn, a little dangerous. The narrative mixes a dark fairy-tale vibe with family tension and occult threads. The soundtrack is by Olivier Deriviere — you might recognize his work from Streets of Rage 4, Vampyr, Remember Me, Dying Light 2 Stay Human, etc.
When it first arrived, South of Midnight drew warm responses: many players praised the style and music, and reviewers noted the vivid Southern palette that keeps popping up. On Steam the title sits at 94% positive reviews.
A special Weaver’s Edition will launch alongside the PS5 and Switch 2 release.
