Sony Cleans Up PS Store — Company Removes Over a Thousand Low-Quality Games from the Shop

Sony has removed over a thousand games from a single developer from the PlayStation Store without warning. The studio ThiGames was caught in the crossfire — just yesterday it held the fourth place among publishers in the store by the number of releases, and today all its projects have vanished from the digital shelves.

The disappearance was noticed by an X user under the nickname RobThanatos. According to him, absolutely all ThiGames games have been removed from the store. The only thing that remains is the trophies for those who managed to earn them. Neither Sony nor the studio itself has yet explained what exactly happened and why the decision was made so abruptly.

ThiGames is well-known in certain circles for so-called "shovelware" — simple and formulaic games like The Jumping Fries, The Jumping Taco, The Jumping Hot Dog, or The Jumping Soda. In these projects, the user controls food and simply jumps.

The reason for the popularity of such games was quite utilitarian. They were bought not for the gameplay, but for the trophies. The "platinum" in some of them could be earned in just a minute and a half — all it took was a few jumps. Online, it's still easy to find guides that fit within 90 seconds. For achievement hunters, this was a quick and cheap way to increase the trophy count on their accounts.

This is not the first time Sony has cleaned the store of such content. About a year ago, the company similarly got rid of projects by Randomspin — a developer suspected of using AI and recycled assets. Back then, that studio also churned out dozens of games in a short time and disappeared without any loud announcements.
