Skate Story Receives Major Devil's Patch Update

The creator of the unusual adventure Skate Story, Sam Eng, has released a major update called Devil's Patch. The update brings not only fixes for numerous technical issues but also a number of long-awaited features that significantly enrich the gameplay experience.

The developer's main focus was on improving the game's stability. Frequent freezes have been eliminated, including in key episodes of the story campaign and in the "Skater's Training Room" location. Additionally, level geometry errors have been fixed, cases of falling out of bounds have been removed, the issue with disappearing platforms has been resolved, and incorrect cutscenes have been corrected.

Simultaneously, Sam Eng conducted serious work on performance optimization. The hubs now feature the final version of the musical score, and minor but noticeable issues for players have been addressed — from audio glitches to visual inconsistencies in the environment.

Among the functional additions, two major ones stand out. First, the maximum size of the sticker inventory has been increased, something players have long requested. Second, a special stone has been added to the "Skater's Dream" location, displaying the total number of tricks performed — now you can visually track your progress.

But the main novelties of the update are the Photo Mode and the "New Game+" mode. Photo Mode is implemented simply and conveniently: it can be accessed from the pause menu to capture the most unusual and surreal moments of the journey through Hell. The "New Game+" mode opens the possibility to start the game anew while retaining all customization items, boards, stickers, and accumulated souls. Upon replaying, stickers reappear in the world — they can be collected again. At the same time, the game becomes more challenging: enemies receive increased health, requiring more thoughtful tactics from the player.

Another important improvement is that achievement progress is now saved after completing the game — no more starting from scratch.

In a message to the community, Sam Eng thanked players for their active help: the submitted bug reports and save files allowed him to reproduce and fix many critical issues. The developer also hinted that he is already working on several "secret" updates — some created at the request of fans, and some intended to be a pleasant surprise.

Skate Story is an adventure game about a demon-skateboarder trying to escape from Hell. The project was released on December 8, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2. On PS5, the game was immediately added to the PS Plus catalog. The game received high praise from critics and maintains a 96% positive review rating on Steam.
