The Scottish studio Screen Burn, supported by Konami and Annapurna Interactive, is preparing to release Silent Hill: Townfall. A couple of months before the planned launch, members of the press had access to a closed 3-hour demo and published early impressions. Below are some notable points pulled from those previews:

  • Completing Silent Hill: Townfall runs ~10–14 hrs (avg.).
  • The game features 5 endings — 3 are reachable on a first playthrough, while the other 2 are secret and require NG+ to unlock.
  • Endings react to how you play: attacking monsters often, conserving resources, and how thoroughly you explore locations all feed into which conclusion you get (e.g., combat choices and item management matter).
  • The protagonist is Simon Ordell, an American who comes to the fictional Scottish isle of St. Amelia around 1996 to try and right past wrongs. As you progress you pick up pieces of Simon’s history, confront his internal struggles, and move through the town’s fog-laden streets.
  • Reporters note the first-person view ramps up immersion, tightens the mood during monster encounters, and makes it easier to inspect objects when solving puzzles.
  • Simon carries a pocket TV that’s handy for exploration: it occasionally delivers fragmented recordings pointing to buildings you should check out. There’s also a classic paper map.
  • The CRTV device doubles as a puzzle tool and a tracker — it can reveal monster positions behind walls during stealth sections. Each creature shows up only on its own frequency.
  • Ammo is limited and Simon isn’t much of a bruiser, so expect to sneak around and avoid straight-up fights whenever possible.

After this demo, Silent Hill: Townfall shot to the top of my list of most anticipated games for the remainder of 2026. Even weeks after playing, I can't get that disorienting, terrifying opening scene out of my head and eagerly look forward to returning to Simon’s adventure.

The release of Silent Hill: Townfall is scheduled for September 24. The game will be available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) and PlayStation 5 with Russian text localization.
